Hannibal Rising
Hannibal Rising.
Nothing. This is what I what I expected from this movie, if fact I got it out jst to boo and hiss at it. I had seen a preview that had me think “that looks like total gash I got to see it”.
But…..
I was surprised as (fill in blank). I got to say I found it kick ass and oh so creepy. In one particular scene I was squirming and unable to look at the screen. Now you may watch this film and go Tza you are a big Nancy and go ahead it creped me out, but also just a beautify maleficent way to torture and kill someone.
The plot of the film, good, a little contrived or better obvious but still one that drew me in, it was because I knew what was going to happen I was enthralled. Everything mapped out but a believable explanation of how the monster Hannibal was “born”.
But I think the thing that stood out for me was Hannibal, played very well by Gaspard Ulliel totally unknown to me but at firt glance had me turning to my friend Mike and revealing my thought that “this cat must get so much women”, (we’re cool like that, comfortable in our sexuality to be able to point out a chick magnate when we see one).
This guy had to walk into this saying “ok Brian Cox, and Tony Hopkins have played this guy, and Hopkins played the shit out of him” these were Andre the Giants shoes to fill, I mean Jack couldn’t even life one of these shoes. Ulliel I think thought screw that I’m going to make my own shoes.
So creepy but in the vain of all of the best bad guys I liked him. He had charm, he was devious, devilish and debonair. He was a perfect monster.
