Me, you and everybody we Know
I was sitting with a friend at a café one day, it’s a funny story but I won’t go into it all I will say is it was the wrong time for him to act camp in front of an old friend, sometimes you catch a look in someone’s eyes and it’s like they’re scramming what they are thinking.
I digress. My friend Bill began to tell me about a film he had seen that was “off the hook”. He then told me about a scene that would usually make me go “you know what I’ll give that a miss”. This scene consisted of two girls performing fellatio on a young boy who was determining who gave the better blow-job.
“Lucky kid” replied.
“Man you got to see this film, it better than what I’ve seen for ages” Bill lamented, so I got it out. Twenty minutes in I was on the phone to him “Bill this film kicks ass” I yelled, “good I thought you would like it”.
Mirada July is a beautiful woman, talented writer, and capable director. “Me, you and Everybody we know” is a gem of a film. It is bold in it’s approach to not really make any one story the main one, each persons drama is intoxicating and each character I am interested in, this seldom happens with film that try this channel of travel. I heart Huckabees and , Thumbsucker I watched around the same time and felt they had the same type of feeling to them. Quirky script and premise, great performances but with Me and You there is something more. I don’t know what t is, maybe the love that was put into this is more apparent. The fact that none of the actors are known, getting a “big chance” to act. The photography is superb, and the soundtrack (Michael Andrews “Goldfish”) I could listen over and over.
I was so impressed that this film walked the line where I can understand when people don’t like this film. It is a film where not all will like but those who do will love it.
Me you and Everybody we know is one to watch it’s my lock of the week, if was hosting a football show I would now be producing a big pad-lock on my desk and give three thumbs up.

Agreed this was a great film that was largely unnoticed. Well worth recommending to others.
