Slumdog Millionaire (2008) - Maybe it's Written.
Maybe it's written.
Throughout it's duration you know this movie is going places and really captures your imagination. Even more impressive is that it manages to create a good movie with a seemingly cliche ending. The good guy wins and the bad guys lose. The writing / relatively true story is what really brings the movie to life. It seems like everything probably happened to somebody, doubtly though all to the same person.
The cinematography was very nicely shot; the night/ day shots really helps heighten the tension. There is only one major stunt which is to be expected because of the lower budget it was produced with. Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up at the Oscars being nominated for ten and winning eight, but I feel while it was a very good movie, eight Academy Awards? Really? Eight awards is just way too many, I think both the music awards are particularly weak but that's just my opinion. The movie wasn't life altering and I feel that the hype has gotten out of hand. It is a really well crafted feel-good movie and I feel that sympathy for real life problems is bleeding over creating good will for the movie.
The social implications seem to out-weigh the cinematic properties of the film. Milk is a beneficiary of the same phenomenon elevating a film because people agree with it's message, not because it's worth it based on the merit. That being said I say Slumdog Millionaire is a movie you have to watch as it's one of the best of an (unfortunately) weak year in movies.
