The day the Mountain fell

I was intending to review a film that I didn’t like, just to keep things square, but as I sat on the couch and cracked open a beer and began to wallow in my jobless hole I found out something that saddened me more than I ever thought possible with regards to someone I didn’t know, hadn’t met, and probably was never going to, I found out that Heath Ledger had died.

The cause, who cares. Drugs, mugger, heartbreak, it makes no difference when you’re lying on the slab all that matters is where there was once a talented soul now lies nothing. One less leading man in Hollywood, Heath falls and Tom Cruise is allowed to live on, it’s not fair.

Heath Ledger was not my favorite actor but I respected his work, and from interviews I had seen of him I thought “he’s a cool cat, man I’d like to have a beer with him”. He seem so unassuming, modest even that cool Australian actor who is a great addition to Hollywood’s ranks, the Crowe’s, Brown’s, the Piece’s, are now missing one of the best, the Ledger.

As I flicked through sky I found ‘Brokeback Mountain’ was playing. Having seen this film once with my best friend Ollie in his hotel room as we drunk whiskey I pleaded with him to keep it on as, well, I hadn’t seen it, the only thing I had experienced from this film was driving and hearing a exert from the film. “Damn shit” I said to myself Ledger sounds awesome, and in that whiskey soaked night (I forgive you for what you are thinking) I was treated to a great performance from an actor who was destine for great things, but alas, Heath Ledger died.

So I watched Brokeback again, I sipped on beer and I wallowed in his performance for he is superb in this film, for he was a suburb actor and deserved his nomination.
When I found out he was to play the Joker I was apprehensive at first but I then remembered ‘this man has talent he’ll pull it off. ’ I watch trailers for ’Dark Knight’ and I am right, he pulls the Joker off because Heath Ledger was a amazing actor.

Truly tragic is the death of Heath Ledger.
